Expectations of a Ward Camp Director

Before Camp

Maintain a positive attitude and generate excitement among your ward’s YW for camp!
Attend the full week of camp - Tuesday, June 16th - Friday, June 19th.
If applicable, plan a YW Camp fundraiser under the direction of your Bishop or Branch President. The Stake Presidency encourages wards to steer away from fundraising and for youth to earn funds on their own.
Communicate with the YW and parents how and when to register and pay for camp. Registration is done on this website; it opens April 1st and closes April 26th. Payments are done online through donation slip (bottom line).
Attend Camp Kickoff and communicate with all parents and YW the details of it. Kickoff is on Friday, April 17th from 6-8 pm at the Saluda Road building in Rock Hill for all young women and their parents.
Work with the YW presidency to determine which leaders will attend YW Camp for the week. We will need 2 leaders per ward and they will need to stay the whole week Tues- Friday.
Plan and complete any assignments given to your ward for camp; such as the Wednesday night lipsync skit.
Communicate with your Bishop or Branch President the details of Wednesday, June 17th. Bishops are invited to attend camp for the day. Bishops should plan to arrive at Camp Long between 1:30-2:30pm. See the "Bishop's Time" tab above for more details.
Make arrangements for rides for all young women in your ward to and from Camp Long. YW will not be allowed to drive to camp or home from camp. (You do NOT need to organize rides for the YCLs on Monday the 15th.) YCLs will ride to camp with the Stake on Monday, but will need to ride home with their respective wards on Friday, June 19th. Plan to arrive at camp between 9:30-10:30am on Tuesday, June 16th. Plan for drivers to pick girls up from camp at 9:30am on Friday, June 19th. Communicate with the YW and help them to understand the camp rules, code of conduct, and FSY guidelines as listed on this website under the Code of Conduct tab.

During Camp

Love the young women you are leading!
Maintain a positive attitude and help the young women do the same.
Accompany campers in your assigned cabin to all activities along with your fellow cabin leaders
Participate in camp activities and encourage the young women to do the same.
Sleep in the cabin with ward YW and leaders.
Support the YCLs as they lead activities
Additional assignments may be given out as camp is planned in more detail.

Wednesday Night Skits/Parodies

On Wednesday, June 17th each ward will present a lipsync skit they have prepared before camp. Please send the name of the song your young women have chosen to Heidi Benjaminsen or Erika Quaife ASAP.
Bishops and their wives are invited to join us at camp that day.
Guidelines:
- 2 minute song
- Use the word “WALK” in song
- Use props, act out your interpretation of song
- Pick a genre (Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Country, a decade, etc)
- All YW in lipsync
- Bonus if Bishop in it
Please tell us the song as soon as your YW pick it to ensure no redundancies

Kick Off Prep

Ward Camp Directors are in charge of communicating the information about Camp Kickoff to their respective wards.
Encourage YW to register prior to kickoff to earn an incentive reward!
All YW, their parents, ward camp directors, and YW presidency members attending camp are invited to attend.
At Camp Kickoff, Level Leaders will be introduced and will have 45 minutes to spend with their respective groups to meet each other and create a cheer.

Q: What do I need to do as a Ward Camp Director?

A: Please review the "Responsibilities" tab to the left.

Q: When is the Registration Period?

A: Registration will open April 1st and close by April 26th.

Q: How much does Camp cost?

A: For each Young Woman Camp cost is $135 and $160 for Freshmen to include the Freshmen trip cost.

Q: How do families submit payment, and when is it due?

A: Pay via online donation forms using the last line to input camp dues ($135 or $160 for Freshmen). Payment is due by June 1, 2026.

Arrivals + Departures

Ward Camp Directors are responsible for organizing rides at a ward level for the YW and their gear to get to and from camp on Tuesday, June 16th and Friday, June 19th. The stake will organize travel for all YCLs on Monday, June 15th. Ward Camp Directors, remember to plan for extra drivers or seats on Friday in order to transport all the young women plus the YCL's in your ward home.

Please ensure that all young women and leaders have their own seat and seatbelt. No double-buckling. Young women are not allowed to drive themselves to or from camp - no exceptions.

MONDAY, June 15th @ 8:30am

YCLs and Stake Camp Committee members meet at the Saluda Road building. The stake will transport the YCLs to Camp Long (wards will transport them home from camp on Friday).

TUESDAY, June 16th

Schedule a meeting time and location for your ward to meet at on Tuesday morning. Plan to arrive at Camp Long between 9:30-10:30 am. The address to Camp Long is 82 Camp Long Road, Aiken, SC 29805.

FRIDAY, June 19th

Drivers should plan to arrive at Camp Long (82 Camp Long Road, Aiken, SC 29805) by 10 am to load their cars with the girls' gear. In coordinating rides, remember to account for extra seats for the YCLs on Friday.

Bishop's Time Wednesday Afternoon + Dinner
June 17th

Please connect early with your unit's Bishop/Branch President. It's important to get this on their busy schedule early. The girls really look forward to spending time with their Bishop and sharing a special dinner with them. If the Bishop is not available, please arrange for a member of the Bishopric to come. The wife of each bishop and members of the young women presidencies are also invited to join us for the day. Please message Heidi Or Erika about who will attend so we can plan for food.

The schedule will go as follows:

1:30-2:30 Bishops arrive
2:30-4:00 Waterfront time
4:00-4:30 Cabin time (get dressed/cleaned up)
4:45-6:00 Dinner
6:15-7:00 Ward time with Bishop
7:00-7:45 Ward lipsync skit prep
8:00-9:30 Lipsync Night! (wards present to everyone)

What Bishops Need to Prepare:

45 minutes of ward time. This should include a fun activity/game, spiritual message, and a small treat.

What Bishops Need to Bring:

Swimsuit
Towel
Change of clothes
Supplies for ward time (treat and any supplies needed for the activity/games they plan)

Spirit Days

After Camp Kick Off and the 2026 YW Camp Theme Reveal we will update this area. Theme days are a fun way for the girls and leaders to connect and celebrate the theme! Each cabin will be provided with face paint which can be used for any young women who did not bring supplies.

Dress Up Theme: Camp Level Shirt Day (each YW will receive their shirt when they arrive at camp and will be able to change into it when they take their bags to their cabin and unpack)
